We spent most of this weekend inside where there wasn't 3 feet of snow and temperatures that felt like the teens.
We also had almost three days of unscheduledness (TeenStar did have pitching lesson on Sunday morning and Golden Boy did have a hockey game on Sunday afternoon, but that was it which is pretty much nothing compared to our normal weekends). And three days without an alarm clock to wake us up. I know! I thought I was going to be wicked productive and get lots of rest and relaxation. But not so much.
I spent Friday night fretting about the possibility of a power outage and regretting that we did not get a generator. I am not quite sure why I was so anxious. I mean at 9:00 on Friday night there was pretty much nothing we were going to be able to do about a power outage. except for pile on the clothes and wait it out. But fret I did into the wee hours of the night. Perhaps my fretfulness is a sign of my impending 40's. You know like I am old person fretter now.
Sigh. My kids would probably hate it if I turned into a fretter.

Luckily we did not lose power. That was amazing and it felt so great to wake up on Saturday morning with heat and lights. It stayed cold enough outside through the night that the snow stayed light and fluffy and not mushy and wet. Mushy and wet would have been bad or so one of the round the clock weathermen told me late late Friday night. One of the few times in my life I have ever wished for colder weather.
Saturday was also SuperHubby's birthday.
Woo Hoo to 42 years!
Part of our storm prep errand running was getting things for SuperHubby's birthday so we could celebrate even if we were stuck in the house. Unfortunately for SuperHubby he spent the majority of the day digging and snowblowing us out of the piles of snow that surrounded our house and cars. By 9:00pm he was upstairs in bed with a heating pad and some ibuprofen (insert old man joke here). We did have a nice spaghetti and meatballs dinner and Princess made some birthday cupcakes.

Princess and Golden Boy did have some fun in the snow on Saturday and Sunday. They enjoy that cold wet stuff. And SuperHubby kept on shoveling.
TeenStar prefers to spend her winter days more like me. In the house and warm. She occupied herself by straightening her hair and helping Princess with a hundred days project.
At one point on Sunday morning I did venture out to go take some pictures of my two younger children frolicking in the snow. When Golden Boy saw me outside he cautioned Princess to be careful because Momma can't get in the snow.
Absolutely right. Happy that my son has my back.

This is my favorite picture of the weekend.

My Princess is such an easy target for pictures. She doesn't mind when I click away and she doesn't get totally goofy (Golden Boy I am talking to you) and she doesn't demand to see every single picture and immediately delete it if it doesn't meet her specifications (a-hem TeenStar).
School is cancelled on Monday as we are under a winter weather advisory for snow, sleet, and freezing rain! And of course there is still a lot of snow to be cleared from roads, parking lots, and sidewalks.
Hopefully things will start to get back to normal on Tuesday!
How did you spend your weekend?

I was thinking about you all a lot this weekend! Glad to hear you didn't lose power. We lost in the blizzard two years ago and we didn't have a generator. It was brutal and Chris was trapped out of town on business.
We didn't get a lick of anything down here. My girls were quite upset about it too!
No blizzard here this weekend and the weather was actually pretty nice. I had some snow envy from your pictures.
We had the snow day Friday and school Monday. Freezing rain stopped by that time. We also spent a lot of time digging, shovelling and playing. I love downtime.

Sounds like your being snowed in made for a good weekend. We went to a fundraiser, went to dinner with old friends and went to a lot of basketball games. BUSY! Besides the snow, wish I had yours. ;
